A unit that has to be empty by the first
An apartment cleanout comes with a clock: a lease ending on the last day of the month, a landlord's walkthrough or a new tenant's key date. Unlike a house, there is no driveway to back into and no garage to stage things. Everything leaves through a narrow door, a corridor, and a stairwell or elevator that other people also use.
A Jersey City living room crowded with a dresser, storage bins and mismatched furniture is a typical starting point. Individually, none of it is hard to move. Together it can swallow a weekend of borrowed hand trucks, favors from friends and several trips to the curb. This is the kind of job where a trained crew and one big truck save the most time.
How the crew works around hallways and elevators
Send a few photos of the unit and the route out, or a list of the large pieces, and we estimate from there. The final price is confirmed on site. If your building has loading hours or a reserved elevator window, tell us when you book so the crew arrives ready to use it. You do not need to be there once access and scope are confirmed.
Our crews are in-house New Jersey employees, not subcontractors, and they do all the lifting, loading and hauling. They take care with door frames and corners, carry mattresses and couches down rather than dragging them, and sweep the floor when the last load is out. Usable furniture is donated, and recyclables go to recycling instead of the landfill.
Cost, limits and the bare-floor handover
If you are clearing one or two bulky pieces, a single-item pickup runs $185 to $250, and items over about 150 lb, oversized pieces or difficult access can raise it. A whole unit is priced by volume on the 25 cubic yard truck: $350 for a 1/16 load, $485 for 1/8, $685 for 1/4 and $985 for 1/2, with larger loads at $1,685 and $1,985.
No dumpster rental is needed, so there is no bin blocking a loading zone. Labor, hauling, disposal fees and the sweep-up are in the price, and there is no hourly rate. Paint, chemicals, fuel, propane tanks, pesticides, asbestos, medical waste and unknown liquids cannot go on the truck, so clear those out ahead of the crew.
When the crew leaves, the unit is empty, the floor is swept and you can hand back the keys. Same-day and next-day availability is often possible, seven days a week, which helps when the walkthrough is tomorrow morning and the furniture is still in the room.
