Single item pickup

Bags and broken chairs at the curb? The crew loads them.

Already stacked at the curb or along the side of the house? The crew loads it, sweeps up and drives off with it.

The pile that is already outside

Some junk is already out of the house and still isn't gone. Black contractor bags slump along a side yard, snow banked against them. Patio chairs with a cracked seat or a missing leg lean on the fence. A pile at the curb draws attention from the neighbors, and in winter it freezes to the ground before anyone gets to it.

JunkDoctors has cleared exactly that kind of side yard: bags and broken patio chairs along a snowy edge of the property, gone in a single visit. Whether it's in Montclair, Ridgewood or Flemington, outside pickup is among the more straightforward jobs, because there are usually no stairs, no doorways and nothing to disconnect.

What you need to do before the crew arrives

Not much. Make sure the pile is where you said it is, that the crew can reach it, and that you've told them what's in it. Photos, a short video or a plain item list is enough for an estimate, and the final price is settled on site. If it's all outside, you don't need to be home at all once access and scope are confirmed.

The crew handles the rest. They lift, load and haul everything onto the 25 cubic yard truck, then sweep up what falls off the bags along the way. Often the crew can come the same day or the next, any day of the week, and they're in-house JunkDoctors employees rather than subcontractors. Whatever can still be donated or recycled is, whenever possible.

Pricing one item or a whole pile

One or two items at the curb are a single item pickup, $185 to $250. Extra-heavy pieces, generally over 150 pounds, oversized items or difficult access can raise that. Once there are bags, chairs and boards together, the job is measured by the truck instead: 1/16 of a load is $350, 1/8 is $485, and 1/4 is $685.

Pricing includes labor, loading, hauling, disposal fees and sweep-up, with no hourly rate. The crew can't pick up propane tanks, gasoline, fuel, pesticides, chemicals, wet paint, asbestos, medical waste or unknown liquids, so leave those out of the pile. Afterward the curb is bare and the side yard is just a side yard again.
