E-waste pickup

The drawer, the closet and the box of cables, finally cleared

Old computers, monitors, printers and cables are collected by the crew and sorted for recycling instead of the landfill.

Where does all the old electronics go?

Electronics pile up quietly. A tower from the last job, two monitors under the stairs, a printer nobody trusts and a box of cables that fit nothing anymore. Office closets in Edison and Livingston hold more of it than the people who work there remember, and every year the pile gets a little harder to deal with.

The trouble is that e-waste is not ordinary trash. Screens, batteries and circuit boards carry materials that should not end up in a household bin, so most people hold on to it until a move forces the question. By then the pile weighs more than anyone expects, and none of it is easy to lift.

How does the crew sort and clear it?

Send a photo of the pile, or list what is there: monitors, towers, printers, a stack of keyboards. The estimate comes from that, and the final price is confirmed on site. The crew gathers everything, loads it and sweeps up, so you don't have to box or carry any of it.

You don't have to be there once access and scope are confirmed, which is useful for an office floor that only opens at certain hours. Before pickup, take a few minutes to wipe or pull anything personal from drives and phones. The crew handles the hauling, and the in-house crews do the sorting themselves rather than passing it to a subcontractor.

What does electronics recycling cost?

A few pieces, such as one or two monitors, fall under the single item pickup price of $185 to $250. A full pile of towers, screens and cables is priced by how much of the 25 cubic yard truck it fills, starting at $350 for a 1/16 load. Labor, loading, hauling, disposal fees and sweep-up are included, with no hourly rate.

JunkDoctors donates and recycles whenever possible, and e-waste goes toward recycling instead of the landfill. Batteries that are leaking, and anything with chemicals, fuel, gasoline, propane tanks, pesticides or unknown liquids, stays behind, along with wet paint, asbestos and medical waste. Same-day or next-day pickup is often available.
